Insecticides
Insecticides are pesticides used to kill insects. Some types, called ovicides, kill insect eggs, while others, called larvicides, kill insect larvae. Acaricides are chemicals that kill mites and ticks. Although acaricides aren’t exactly insecticides, they are often grouped together with them.
Herbicides
Herbicides, also known as weed killers, are substances used to control undesired plants, also known as weeds. Selective herbicides control specific weed species while leaving the desired crop relatively unaffected, whereas non-selective herbicides kill plants indiscriminately.
Fungicides
Fungicides are chemicals used to kill harmful fungi or their spores. Fungi can seriously damage crops, leading to big losses in the amount and quality of the harvest and reducing profits. Fungicides are used in farming and to treat fungal infections in animals.
Rodenticides
Rodenticides are chemicals used to kill rodents, often called “rat poison.” They’re also used to kill mice, woodchucks, chipmunks, porcupines, nutria, beavers, and voles. Even though rodents are important in nature, sometimes they need to be controlled.
Plant Growth Regulators
Plant growth regulators are chemicals that completely control how plants grow and develop. They’re also called plant growth hormones or phytohormones. These hormones are organic compounds that plants either naturally produce or are made in labs.
Biopesticides
Biopesticides are natural things or living beings that harm, kill, or keep pests away. To control pests, we use biological methods like predators, parasites, or chemicals. These biopesticides come from plants, bacteria, other tiny living beings like fungi, and nematodes.
